We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Assistant Purchasing Manager / Senior Purchasing Executive to manage product sourcing, buying strategies, supplier relationships, inventory performance, and promotional planning for our Korean supermarket operations. This role is responsible for driving sales growth, margin improvement, and optimal inventory management while ensuring a competitive and high-quality product assortment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, source and manage product assortments to achieve sales, margin and stock turnover targets.
• Develop and execute buying strategies aligned with business and market trends.
• Negotiate trading terms, rebates, promotional support and commercial agreements with suppliers.
• Manage supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance.
• Oversee inventory levels to ensure healthy stock holding and minimal overstock.
• Analyze sales, stock performance and buying income to optimize purchasing decisions.
• Plan and execute promotions in accordance with the company’s promotional calendar.
• Source new and trending products to maintain market competitiveness.
• Prepare and manage purchase orders, delivery schedules and documentation accuracy.
• Coordinate with logistics, operations and merchandising teams for smooth product flow.
• Monitor purchasing budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure product quality, compliance and timely supply.
• Support merchandising, marketing and cross-functional planning activities.
• Perform ad-hoc tasks and special projects as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

• Certificate / Diploma / Degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, Economics or related field.
• Minimum 3-10 years of buying / purchasing experience in FMCG or retail industry.
• Experience in supermarket / grocery / FMCG retail will be an added advantage.
• Able to communicate in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin (to liaise with Mandarin-speaking suppliers).
• Strong negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
• Good analytical skills with strong understanding of sales, margin and inventory control.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and POS.
• Able to work independently, under pressure and in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Possess own transport & based in The Curve.
