Job summary

A recruiting agency is seeking an Assistant Officer for Safety, Health & Environment in Johor. You will monitor compliance with health and safety practices, assist in documentation, conduct inspections, and manage scheduled waste under relevant regulations. Ideal candidates must hold a certificate in Safety and Health from NIOSH and have at least two years of relevant experience, preferably in construction or manufacturing environments. The role requires good communication skills in English, problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Job description
Assistant Officer Safety, Health & Environment

Salary Up To RM8000

Location: Senai, Johor

Job Responsibilities
  • Monitoring and inspections of all activities and processes at the plant to ensure good health and safety practice.
  • Assist in documentation preparation and compilation for the SHO, including PPE reports, inventory, and distribution.
  • Perform weekly inspection of fire protection equipment (fire extinguisher, hose reel, fire hydrant, pump house) and maintain records in good condition.
  • Perform weekly inspection of first aid kit boxes, inventory and condition, ensuring proper positioning, expiry date, and quantity.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and maintain toolbox records for monthly reporting.
  • Act as the Company’s Environment Officer handling scheduled waste management and other legislation related to EQA under DOE requirements.
  • Update scheduled waste data on DOE website and ensure effective implementation of scheduled waste management.
  • Assist SHO on Mykkp applications for JKKP 6, 7, 8 and P.M.A/P.M.T/P.M.D renewal/applications.
  • Assist the external consultant on sampling, testing and compiling the report.
  • Assist SHO on other assigned job related to safety, health and environment matters.
  • Conduct site inspections at plant areas, identify hazards (unsafe act and unsafe condition), and take appropriate safety measures, reporting to plant in-charge and superior.
  • Investigate accidents and complaints, determine any breach of health and safety law, write reports on inspection and investigation, and complete detailed paperwork.
  • Ensure workers are provided with suitable protective equipment (eyegoggles, ear protectors, head protectors, appropriate gloves and clothing).
  • Ensure Work Permit and HIRARC are applied accordingly to their job tasks. Assist SHO in all related matters regarding ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and BCMS.
Job Requirements
  • Certificate in Safety and Health from NIOSH or related qualification.
  • At least two (2) years working experience, preferably in a construction or manufacturing environment.
  • Certified competent Occupational Safety & Health Officer from NIOSH / Diploma in Science / Engineering (Environmental/Safety/Health) or Certificate from NIOSH or related approved institution.
  • Computer literate and able to communicate in English.
  • Good attitude, positive mind‑set, self‑starter, self‑motivated, independent and good team worker.
  • Possess own transport and willing to travel.
