Job summary

A leading construction company in Malaysia is seeking an Assistant Manager / Manager (Quantity Surveyor) with over 8 years of experience in contract administration and cost management. This role involves preparing budgets, monitoring costs, and leading the tender process. The candidate should demonstrate strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, along with the capacity to multitask effectively. Knowledge of English and Mandarin is beneficial. The position offers a 5-day work week from Monday to Friday.

Assistant Manager / Manager - Contract (Quantity Surveyor)

Job Description
  • Assist in preparing project budgets, cost estimates, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Monitor project costs control throughout the project including budgeting and cost reporting.
  • Review Contractor’s/Supplier’s quotations and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Assist in preparing progress claims, final accounts, and cost update reports.
  • Manage variations order and ensure accurate evaluation.
  • Provide contractual advice and risk assessment on the project management.
  • Lead tender process from review of tender documents, drawings, BOQs, tender evaluation, to recommendation of award.
  • Sourcing materials, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project specifications.
  • Coordinate with project teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Attend project meetings and provide updates on contract and cost matters.
  • Assist in resolving contractual issues, disputes, or claims in a timely manner.
What we're looking for
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in contract administration, quantity surveying, or construction cost management.
  • Experience in integrated development project is an added advantage.
  • Current position in leadership role, demonstrating ability to excel in leading position.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficient in cost analysis and project budgeting.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Mandarin is an advantage.
