Our Legal, Compliance & Sustainability Team
The in-house legal team at REIT Manager oversees all legal, compliance, and sustainability functions for the Fund. The team has achieved significant recognition for their work:

Job Description
Contract
- Draft, prepare, comment on, review, negotiate and finalise the offer letters and tenancy agreements for KIP REIT’s retail property portfolio.
- Draft, prepare, comment on, review, negotiate and finalise the letters of award for the appointment of the contractors, engineers, architects and etc.
- Draft, prepare, comment on, review, negotiate and finalise service agreements for the appointment of the vendors, suppliers and the service providers.
- Assist with contractual queries from the Leasing and/or Operation teams, which include, without limitation, contract review, legal research, risk assessments, risk mitigation and preparation of legal advice and reports.
- Provide practical and efficient legal advices, comments and suggestions regarding contractual risk management.
- Develop and implement the contract management process, which includes, without limitation, the contract process, workflow, stakeholder guidelines and templates.
- Attend the monthly management meeting.
Litigation
- Manage and handle pre-litigation legal disputes and enquiries from the Leasing and/or Operation teams.
- Monitor the progress of the litigation cases and manage and oversee all aspects thereof from inception through resolution.
- Manage the engagement of external lawyers, oversee the quality of their work and ensure effective delivery of legal support.
- Comment on, review and finalise the pleadings (including but not limited to writs, statements of claim, statement of defence and etc.), affidavits, notice of application, witness statements, written submissions and etc.
- Liaise with and manage the witnesses for the trials.
- Update the records, progress, details and information of all the litigation cases.
Compliance
- Draft, prepare, comment, review and finalise the compliance policies.
- Identify and analyse compliance risks and carry out measures to monitor and mitigate risks.
- Develop and continuously review KIP REIT’s regulatory and compliance process, standards and controls to ensure they remain up-to-date and meet current statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Design, conduct and deliver trainings on compliance topics.
- Supervise, mentor and develop junior counsel, including reviewing the work product, providing guidance on legal and compliance matters, and ensuring quality standards are maintained across all deliverables.
- Undertake ad hoc assignments and special projects relating to legal, compliance and regulatory matters as may be directed by the Head of Department and Senior Management.
Qualifications
- At least 4 to 7 years of relevant working experience.
- Minimum of a second-class upper division in a Bachelor of Laws degree. Candidates with a second-class lower division from the University of London International Programme may be considered.
- A first-class honours degree with outstanding academic results are advantageous.
- Admission to the UK and/or Malaysian Bar is preferred but not mandatory.
- Candidates with substantial experience from a corporate practice background (e.g., mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, venture capital, private equity, project and energy, or capital markets) will be given preference.
- Non-admitted candidates must possess substantial in-house legal experience with a proven track record in drafting, negotiating, and managing complex commercial contracts.
