Job description

The Assistant Finance Manager will provide support to the Finance Manager in ensuring accurate financial reporting, efficient budgeting and forecasting. The role involves preparing management reports, overseeing billing and receivables, supporting cashflow management, and contributing to process improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Finance Manager in overseeing the institution’s financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and statutory compliance.
  • Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts, financial reports, and variance analyses to support informed management decision‑making.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting and forecasting process and monitor operating expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Manage accounts receivable functions, including student billing, fee collection, and receivables follow‑up, in coordination with Admissions and address billing‑related enquiries.
  • Oversee the accounts payable function and supervise the team in the absence of the Finance Manager.
  • Manage cash flow planning, banking transactions, and financial controls to ensure adequate liquidity and financial discipline.
  • Manage direct reports and support continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimisation, system enhancements, and data integrity across finance operations.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and operational support to finance team members and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
Other Responsibilities
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Finance Manager or the Head of Operation.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Post Graduate Diploma.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, handling full set of account, financial reporting.
  • Experience in team supervision; preferably in education or service‑based organizations.
  • Knowledge and experience of SAP S/4HANA, IBM Planning & Cognos Analytics.
  • Proficient in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Detail‑oriented and able to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
