A leading fresh food retailer in Malaysia is seeking a Head of Financial Reporting to oversee financial report preparation and ensure compliance with regulations. The role requires strong leadership to manage the financial reporting team and involves detailed financial analysis to support strategic decisions. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with relevant certifications and have extensive experience in senior management roles. This position is essential for maintaining financial integrity and compliance in a rapidly growing company.
Responsible for overseeing the preparation, accuracy, and timely delivery of an organization’s financial reports. This role ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and accounting standards, and it provides crucial financial insights to support strategic decision‑making. The position reports directly to the GM, Group Finance.
A successful Head of Financial Reporting possesses a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking.
Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required, with a master's degree or an MBA highly valued.
Professional certification: A professional accounting certification, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Experience: Extensive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
Regulatory knowledge: A comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of financial regulations, accounting standards (MFRS/IFRS), and compliance requirements is critical.
Technical proficiency: Expertise in accounting software, financial databases, and advanced spreadsheet skills is essential for managing and analyzing financial data.
Strategic thinking: The ability to analyze financial data and translate it into insights that support long‑term business strategy is vital.
Communication: Strong communication and presentation skills are necessary to clearly articulate complex financial information to both financial and non‑financial stakeholders, including the executive team and board members.
Leadership: The ability to manage and motivate a team, delegate tasks, and oversee projects is a core requirement.
