A leading engineering firm in Malaysia is seeking an experienced accountant to manage day-to-day operations, including Accounts Payable and Receivable, and prepare financial statements. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Accounting or Finance, at least 5 years of experience, and strong knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards. Responsibilities include financial reporting, audit support, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with AutoCount accounting system are advantageous.
Involve in the day-to-day accounting operations, including precise and timely data entry for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and expense tracking across multi-currency accounts.
Administer staff claims and expense reimbursements promptly and accurately.
Reconcile accounts, including bank reconciliations and intercompany balances.
Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Ledger, including Right of Use Assets according to Financial Reporting Standard.
Support local tax projects and audit, ensure accurate and timely filings including coordination with tax consultants.
Ensure compliance with the Companies Act and relevant regulations.
Prepare comprehensive documentation and schedules to support internal and external audits.
Monitor and enforce internal controls and financial policies to mitigate risks.
Prepare journal entries, accounting schedules, financial statements, and management reports with high accuracy.
Review and analyse financial and project performances, including variance analysis.
Assist in the preparation of the budget & forecast reports and perform variance analysis vs actual.
Monitor daily cash balances, bank positions and short-term liquidity.
Monitor accounts receivable collection status; recommend actions for fund placements, drawdowns, etc.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes and enhance efficiency.
Support ad-hoc projects and other finance-related tasks as required.
