Job summary

A governmental body in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Communications Officer to create and manage media content, including press releases and social media engagement, while ensuring adherence to branding guidelines and standards. The ideal candidate will hold a diploma in a relevant field and have at least one year of experience in a related role, alongside skills in copywriting, media relations, and multimedia production. Overview

Responsibilities
  1. Write, edit, and coordinate the release of press releases, speeches, articles, info kit, keynote, talking points, FAQs and official statements for the Corporate Communication Section in order to maintain a positive public perception by adhering to SSM’s format, house style and editorial standards.
  2. Produce and edit content/ captions for SSM’s social media platforms and website to engage and create awareness to the general public and by utilizing storytelling techniques and SEO best practices.
  3. Develop and produce informational and educational contents including event materials such as posters, notices, banners, event backdrops, programme booklets and videos and other related graphic including multimedia contents while adhering to SSM’s branding guidelines and language standards.
  4. Monitor and compile media coverage and news clippings in order to track feedback, comments and sentiments on SSM by using media monitoring tools for management review.
  5. Translate corporate documents and announcements between Bahasa Malaysia and English for various departmental needs in order to ensure message consistency across all languages by maintaining a glossary of standardized corporate terminology.
  6. Build and maintain strong working relationships with journalists, editors and media partners by responding promptly to media enquiries and fostering consistent engagement during press conferences, media briefing sessions and related media activities/ events.
  7. Proofread all corporate collaterals including brochures, posters, and advertisements before final production to ensure zero typographical and grammatical errors.
  8. Coordinate and execute end-to-end preparations for press conferences and corporate events in order to facilitate smooth communication with media members by preparing press kits and managing media registration.
  9. Monitor and handle public and stakeholder inquiries via social media to maintain high levels of stakeholder satisfaction by providing accurate information regarding SSM initiatives and channelling complex issues to relevant officers.
  10. Integrate an agile mindset into the media and editorial workflow by experimenting with different content formats to improve communication effectiveness by gathering feedback including analytics and quickly iterating on content and messaging.
  11. Maintain an organized digital archive of all editorial assets and published materials for the section in order to ensure easy retrieval by utilizing SSM’s centralized filing system.
  12. Comply with all of SSM’s policies, SOPs, and governance requirements across all editorial activities in order to protect the organization’s legal and ethical standing while demonstrating agility in supporting other communication or administrative functions in SSM as required.
Job Requirements
  • Diploma in Mass Communication, Journalism, Linguistics, Public Relations, Multimedia (Graphics and Video) or a related field.
  • Professional certification in digital copywriting or corporate storytelling is an added advantage; and/or
  • Professional certification in graphic design and video production.
  • Minimum 1 year of related working experience.
