Job summary

A financial services company in Malaysia is seeking an experienced accountant to maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts. Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, assisting with financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 2–3 years of relevant experience, preferably with insight into audits. Strong proficiency in ERP systems and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in general ledger or financial reporting.
  • Experience in audit (especially big 4) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS / local GAAP).

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with accounting policies and standards.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements, management reports.
  • Prepare tax filings and work with Group Tax team for statutory submission.
  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies on a timely basis.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Assist in audits (internal and external) by preparing schedules and documentation.
  • Support process improvement initiatives, including automation and system enhancements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Perform ad hoc assignments as and when required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional qualification or progress towards Chartered Accountant (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ICAEW) preferred.
