Job summary

A recruitment agency in Malaysia is seeking an Accountant/Senior Accountant to manage financial operations and support reporting functions. The role requires a degree in accounting and familiarity with accounting systems, preferably Xero. Suitable candidates will have 1-4 years of experience and strong attention to detail. The position is located in Johor Bahru, with a salary of up to SGD 3000.

About the job Accountant / Senior Accountant

Company Background:

Our client specialize in sourcing quality agricultural products (primarily nuts and spices) from diverse origins such as: Asia, Africa, North America and South America.

By working closely with our reliable suppliers across the globe, they are able to cater to international clients via import & export and cross trade. Moreover, they have ready stock in Singapore to cater to the local market as a wholesaler and distributor.

Key Responsibilities

1) Finance Operations

  • Prepare and issue sales invoices, packing lists, and goods issue notes
  • Maintain up-to date accounts receivable records, prepare statements of accounts, and follow up with customers for timely payment
  • Calculate and process sales commissions, factoring in end-to-end costs
  • Process expenses and payments to suppliers

2) Reporting Support

  • Support the preparation of audit and tax filings (ACRA/ IRAS)
  • Support the preparation of financial statements in line with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS)
  • Support ad hoc administrative, sales, purchasing and accounting tasks
  • Work effectively with team members and supervisors to meet daily goals and support overall finance operations/ other reporting deliverables
  • Ensure data confidentiality and compliance with both Singapore and Malaysias PDPA requirements

Requirements

  • Education: Degree/Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Experience: 1-4 years in accounting; knowledge of full set of accounts is a plus

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with accounting systems (Xero preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas) and Word
  • Accurate and efficient data entry

Soft Skills:

  • Reliable and organized, with a strong sense of ownership
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Salary Range: Up to SGD3000
