Job summary

Job description
Responsibilities
  • To organize, assign, train and supervise account staff on their functional roles and responsibilities, performance of recurring tasks & ad‑hoc assignments and improving quality and efficiency of deliverables by day‑to‑day financial operations
  • Ensure all payments are on time and supplier invoices are properly verified
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies and internal controls to ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting records
  • Monitor execution of effective control policies and procedures to protect company assets and interests
  • Report on account and financial status on a monthly and yearly basis
  • Liaise with financial institutions, auditors, tax agents, consultants, authorities and statutory bodies, vendors & contractors, etc. on accounting and financial related matters
  • Effectively manage cash flows, including the credit control function, to ensure adequate funds to meet business needs
  • Actively liaise with bank, monitor foreign exchange rates, and provide recommendation that is favourable for the company
  • Prepare and submit audited statutory accounts and corporate tax filings, including SST submission and compliance, within deadlines
  • Formulate and recommend procedures and policies for the Finance Department for management's consideration and approval
  • Implement and periodically review internal controls, accounting and management reporting systems to improve the management information system, reporting standards and expenditure controls of various departments in the company
  • Analyze the company’s performance, highlight areas of weakness and opportunities for improvement
  • Provide periodic financial reporting and monitoring of financial results against budget/projected targets, perform periodic financial reviews/forecasts and any ad‑hoc analysis as needed
  • Analyze operational cost and unit rates and report unusual variances
  • Manage cash flow position and funding requirements to optimise returns on surplus cash placements and minimise interest payment on loan drawdowns
  • Manage the company’s tax affairs to achieve an optimal tax position within the limits of revenue law
  • Undertake ad‑hoc assignments as required by the management team
Qualifications
  • Degree in Finance or a recognised Professional Accountancy qualification
  • At least 5‑10 years of working experience in an accounting line; experience in engineering/manufacturing/processing environment is an added advantage
  • Strong leadership qualities, strategic thinking, and business operations and control experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good analytical skills, detail‑oriented, trustworthy and committed to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Auto Count accounting software
  • Ability to prioritise competing tasks with critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia; candidates fluent in Mandarin are an added advantage
