A healthcare provider in George Town is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to assist with patient care in various Crisis programs. The role includes completing vital signs, managing medication authorizations, and collaborating with healthcare teams. Ideal candidates should have a high school diploma, medical assistant diploma, CMA certification, and at least 6 months of experience. Bilingual candidates are preferred.
Under the supervision of a registered nurse and the direction of the physicians, the certified medical assistant will complete vital signs, record information in an electronic medical record, obtain discharge records and other significant authorizations to disclosure, stage medication consents and obtain medication authorizations to ensure no lapse in prescriptions. The CMA will gather and provide pertinent medical information to the RN or Provider once received. Other responsibilities include collecting specimens for urine drug screens, genetic testing swabs, pregnancy testing, ordering medications once approved from local pharmacies and may also perform injections and venipuncture with nursing supervision. This position will service all Crisis programs including Extended Observation Unit, Crisis Residential Unit, Long Term Transitional Center, Medication Assisted Treatment, Primary Care.
Possesses knowledge and skills that promote person-centered care, including the ability to contribute to efficient clinic flow to reduce wait time for individuals in services. This position requires an aptitude for working with people who have severe mental health challenges, including awareness of psychotherapeutic medications. This position also requires the ability to collaborate and work within teams, providing feedback to physicians, nurses, supervisors, and other members of the recovery team. This position will be cross trained to assist with clerical, financial and other office duties as needed as well as provide medication pick ups from local pharmacies.
