A local council in Dorchester is looking for a Transport Planning professional to join their strategic and policy team. The role involves reviewing planning applications, collaborating with partners, and ensuring compliance with sustainable transport aims. Ideal candidates will have a background in transport planning, strong communication skills, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the community. The position offers flexible hybrid working and opportunities for professional development.
You’ll join a friendly, forward-thinking team at an exciting time as we shape a bold new vision for transport in Dorset. You’ll help drive our ambitions to cut carbon emissions from transport to net zero by 2050 and support sustainable development across the county.
Based in beautiful rural Dorset, close to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, you’ll benefit from Dorset Council’s wide range of training and support, along with our hybrid working approach that offers a flexible mix of home and office working.
You’ll work in our Transport Planning strategic and policy sub-team, playing a key role in reviewing planning applications and pre-planning enquiries to secure the infrastructure and contributions needed to meet our sustainable transport aims. As a main point of contact, you’ll support the Transport Development Management team, collaborate with the Planning Team and other partners, and provide clear policy advice on major developments.
You’ll also help deliver transport studies, prepare plans and write bids to secure funding for sustainable transport schemes. This involves working closely with both internal and external partners to deliver projects on time and to budget.
