Avanti Personnel are currently recruiting an experienced Manufacturing Team Leader to join a well‑established and innovative business based in Newton Aycliffe.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of a manufacturing team to ensure efficient and timely production. They will lead a team of skilled workers, assign tasks, monitor progress, and maintain a safe working environment. The Manufacturing Team Leader will collaborate with other departments, such as production planning, quality control, and maintenance, to optimise productivity and meet production targets.

Strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and excellent communication abilities are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities
Team Leadership
  • Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of manufacturing workers.
  • Assign tasks and set daily production targets.
  • Monitor team performance, provide guidance, and offer training as needed.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and performance feedback.
Production Coordination
  • Coordinate with production planning to ensure the availability of materials, equipment, and resources for smooth production operations.
  • Establish and maintain production schedules to meet customer demands and delivery deadlines.
  • Monitor and adjust production processes to optimise efficiency, minimise downtime, and reduce waste.
  • Identify bottlenecks or production issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with quality control to ensure adherence to product specifications and standards.
Safety and Compliance
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, policies, and regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and take proactive measures to eliminate or mitigate risks.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and machinery.
  • Train and educate team members on safety procedures and promote a culture of safety consciousness.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement lean manufacturing principles.
  • Analyse production data and performance metrics to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement efficiency‑enhancing projects and initiatives.
  • Encourage and facilitate suggestions for process improvements from team members.
Communication and Reporting
  • Maintain effective communication channels with other departments, such as procurement, maintenance, and quality control.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on production performance, efficiency, and key metrics.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, providing clear instructions, feedback, and addressing any concerns or issues promptly.
Qualifications
  • Proven minimum two years' experience as a team leader or supervisor in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within a machining background, familiarity with CNCs is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production management principles.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve production targets.
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
  • Proficiency in using computer software and systems for production planning and reporting.

This fantastic opportunity offers a four day working week, working Monday to Thursday 6.30am – 4.45pm, paid overtime and a route of progression within the organisation.
