Liverpool Hope University is seeking to fill a position within the Governance and Legal Service team. The role is open to either a Trainee Solicitor (including Solicitor's Qualifying Experience) or a qualified Junior Solicitor.
The successful candidate will join a small, friendly team handling a variety of legal and regulatory matters, such as student complaints, misconduct, and compliance with the Office for Students. Most legal cases are managed in-house, with responsibilities including litigation, contract, and property matters, depending on experience and qualification.
The role also involves supporting data protection, advising on the Equality Act, assisting with Freedom of Information and Subject Access Requests, drafting university policies, and attending university committees. The work is diverse, engaging, and rewarding.
All applicants should demonstrate strong communication skills, professionalism, enthusiasm to learn, attention to detail, and meticulous record-keeping. Candidates must specify on their application whether they are applying for the Trainee/SQWE or Junior Solicitor role.
This is a permanent position, subject to a 12-month probationary period.
