Job summary
A supportive accommodation service in Llandrindod Wells seeks to hire staff to assist males who have experienced homelessness. The role involves providing support to help individuals develop independent living skills and manage their temporary accommodation. Gwynfa is a Temporary Supported Accommodation service supporting individual Males who have experienced homelessness. Referrals are received for the accommodation from the Local authority Housing Team. Individuals may have varying support needs, such as, mental health issues, substance misuse issues, and offending history. You will support the individuals to develop independent living skills to enable them to manage their Temporary accommodation at Gwynfa and prepare them to move onto independent sustainable accommodation. Our team delivers support to vulnerable individuals and helps them to develop the key skills needed to prevent homelessness, improve financial capability, promote re-settlement into the community and achieve positive progression. You will play a key part in enabling individuals to achieve their goals and empower them to lead independent lives. Every day is different and every day you would learn new skills and can work with a variety of agencies such as housing, DWP, social services, Police, and health professionals. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join Pobl and make a difference to the people we support is lives and help them, build on their confidence and skills preparing them to move into their own tenancies within the Powys Local Authority area.
- Part of your role will be hands on in working collaboratively with the people we support to reach their goals and help them to positively move on into their own tenancy.
- Engaging and interacting with the people we support
- Writing and following a support plan with the individual you are supporting
- Delivering workshops relating to tenancy management, health, and wellbeing
- Liaising with external agencies
- Supporting with external appointments to GPs and job centres
- Organising and participating in activities
- Dealing with any conflict that arises
- Addressing any additional needs the people we support might have
- Sleep-in shifts at the scheme (you will be provided with a secluded area that includes a bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen facilities)
