Qualifications

  • Strong experience in logistics/traffic planning with proven ability to manage complex operations.
  • Flexibility to work a 24-hour rotating shift pattern.

Location: Fulford Road, Force Control Room, York

Contract: Permanent | Full time

Salary: Approx £39,135 - £42,075 incl. shift and weekend working allowances

Hours: Rotating shifts (2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off)

Closing Date: Friday 24 November at 9am

Training Course: Runs 6 July – 11 September 2026. You must be available for the full duration; annual leave cannot be taken during this period.

We also welcome candidates with backgrounds in fleet or transport planning, air traffic control, or crisis response - roles that demand the ability to manage complex, fast‑moving situations with confidence and precision.

What Does a Dispatcher Do?

As a Dispatch Controller, you are the critical link between the public and frontline officers. When someone calls 999, you’re the calm, decisive voice that:

  • Assess the situation and applies the THRIVE+ risk model
  • Prioritises incidents and allocates resources
  • Monitors officer safety and provides real‑time updates
  • Coordinates responses across emergency services

In short, you’ll be at the heart of emergency response - making split‑second decisions that protect lives and support policing across North Yorkshire.
