A community-focused charity in Godstone is seeking an HR Officer responsible for providing first-line HR support. Location : The Orpheus Centre, Godstone, Surrey

Salary : £26,370.94 (FTE £30,766.09)

Hours : 30 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (with occasional flexibility)

About the role

We are seeking a proactive and experienced HR Officer to provide first-line HR support and guidance across the organisation. You will play a key role in implementing HR policies, supporting managers and staff, and ensuring compliance with employment law and regulatory standards (CQC and Ofsted).

As our HR Officer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring we recruit, retain, and develop the right people to deliver our mission. You’ll :

  • Support and lead on employee relations, including investigations and hearings.
  • Champion staff wellbeing and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) initiatives.
  • Support and manage HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, absence management, and training compliance.
  • Maintain accurate HR data and ensure GDPR compliance.
  • Contribute to strategic projects such as People Strategy, Wellbeing, and Disability Confident.

This is a varied role where you’ll make a real impact on our people and culture.

What we’re looking for
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience at HR Advisor level.
  • CIPD Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, IT and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Remain calm under pressure.
  • Experience with HR systems (e.g., PeopleHR) and knowledge of the charity sector, safeguarding, EDI, and CQC / Ofsted regulations are desirable.
