A leading technology consultancy in Northallerton seeks a Technical Manager to lead their Digital Forensic Laboratory. You will ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 and oversee all aspects of digital forensic investigations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in digital forensics, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage complex projects effectively. This role requires a deep knowledge of forensic principles and proactive leadership to maintain the highest standards of forensic integrity.

The Technical Manager will serve as the principal technical authority within the Digital Forensic Laboratory (DFL), providing expert knowledge and leadership across all aspects of Digital Forensics and associated services.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the technical integrity and compliance of both Digital Forensic Investigations and Proficiency Testing activities, whether conducted within the laboratory or in external environments.
The Technical Manager will be responsible for embedding and upholding all relevant standards (e.g. ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17043, FSR Codes) across all services, ensuring alignment with accreditation requirements and best practice.
The Technical Manager will play a critical role in shaping the laboratory’s technical direction, supporting innovation, and maintaining the highest standards of forensic integrity and operational effectiveness.
In addition, the Technical Manager will support the Laboratory Management Team in the delivery of services and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, and provide management cover during periods of absence or leave.

Applicants should be aware that this role may involve the viewing of images containing the sexual abuse of children and other images of an extremely offensive and distressing nature. The post holder must be willing to undergo regular Psychological Assessments.
Normal demands associated within an office environment; ability to work on computer for long periods and communicate with individuals by phone, email and face to face.
Requirement for occasional travel to perform digital forensic work at scene / locations outside the Digital Forensics laboratory, involving some overnight stays.
Ability to cope working under pressure and time constraints in this uniquely challenging environment.
Agility and coordination in handling equipment and evidence as required. May be required to lift a variety of computer items and sit/stand for extended periods of time.
