Job summary
A leading scientific instrumentation organization is seeking a Field Service Chemist. The role involves servicing and repairing advanced analytical instrumentation with a considerable amount of customer interaction. Candidates should have a degree in Chemistry or a related field, excellent communication skills, and be willing to travel 50-75% of the time across the UK and occasionally internationally. This is a full-time permanent position with a competitive salary up to £38,000 per annum.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level in Chemistry or closely related discipline.
- Strong practical lab skills.
- Understanding of electrical/electronic principles.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.

- Service, maintain and repair advanced analytical instrumentation.
- Install new systems and deliver customer training.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and analytical faults.
- Provide remote and on-site technical support.

Russell Taylor Group have an exciting opportunity for a hands‑on Chemist who enjoys getting out of the lab and into the field. We are recruiting for a Field Service Chemist to join a leading scientific instrumentation organisation. This is a dynamic, customer-facing role combining chemistry, engineering, troubleshooting and travel across the UK.
- Service, maintain and repair advanced analytical instrumentation
- Install new systems and deliver customer training on how to upkeep maintenance tasks.
- Be on hand for customers face to face, phone or email.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and analytical faults
- Provide remote and on‑site technical support
- Prepare paperwork and documentation following the installation of instrumentation.
- Manage your own travel schedule and service planning
- Educated to degree level in Chemistry (or closely related discipline)
- Strong practical lab skills
- Understanding of electrical/electronic principles
- Confident reading schematics and technical manuals
- Excellent communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Happy to travel 50-75% UK wide and occasional international travel.
