Senior Digital Content Writer | London

Role purpose

The primary focus of the role is to create engaging content for our website, including long & short-form content for site-specific materials with a consideration to SEO strategies and paid/ digital channels as required. The objective is to educate customers on our formulations & brand values with the goal of driving conversion. Working in a highly collaborative setting, this role will frequently liaise with Marketing, Creative, Digital Content Strategist & SEO leads.

They will also be responsible for overseeing the integration & providing relevant support relating to Copy as we migrate to NGL and support indirect ecom channel as required.

Role responsibilities
  • Oversee the seamless & smooth migration to NGL, relating to content topics.
  • Ensure all relevant longform & shortform copy on onsite is finalized, optimized with the alignment from key stakeholders such as Marketing, Creative & relevant stakeholders ahead of market to ensure all content is consistent with our tone of voice, correct to an exact degree, and expresses Aesop's approach with clarity and appeal while supporting business growth ambitions. Ability to balance brand & commercial needs is important.
  • In collaboration with the Global Copy team, release guidelines to upskill markets on localized modules to ensure consistent Tone of Voice.
  • Craft engaging short-form/ long form content for on Aesop.com & support media/ indirect/ digital team needs as required.
  • Owner of a roadmap on Copy optimization opportunities to ensure key priorities are addressed.
  • Work closely with our SEO Lead to ensure content is visible, and liaise with our UX team to ensure content meets user needs.
  • Work closely with our Creative and Product teams to ensure all content delivers brand & commercial objectives.
  • Generate ideas for new content pieces, conduct research into possible topics, and maintain a healthy 'backlog' of ideas, drafts, and research to support business ambition.
  • Work closely with markets & regions to ensure content is delivered to a consistent calendar, with all required assets. Measure, reflect and iterate on content, delivering continuous improvement to results and processes.
  • Work in collaboration with Site experience & Design Lead to AB test initiatives and hypotheses to maximise business impact.

This is a full time position operating with a hybrid working pattern.

What we are looking for

  • Post-secondary education or relevant equivalent experience in one or more of the following fields: advertising, literary studies, creative writing, journalism, cultural studies, media studies, copywriting.
  • Content writing experience either within an online business, publishing platform, or digital agency.
  • Experience and knowledge of SEO strategies, eCommerce and digital marketing best practice.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the brand, and of Aesop's tone, lexicon and style
  • Experience in writing short-form digital content
  • Commercial awareness & the ability to inject this into their work
  • Clear understanding of SEO's role in digital content
  • The ability to tailor communications to meet the needs of various audiences, without compromising Aesop's voice or spirit.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of digital eCommerce and/or publishing
  • Ability to identify issues and problems and generate appropriate solutions and alternatives.
  • Understanding of modern content management systems, digital platforms and technologies.
  • An awareness of cultural sensitivities in the territories in which Aesop operates.
  • Ability to multi-task under pressure
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with creative and marketing teams, and a collaborative mindset in general
  • Strong analytical, project management, stakeholder & organizational skills
