The Production Planner role defines and maintain the 0–2-week production schedule for Xtrac’s manufacturing plants, balancing the capacities of complex manufacturing processes with demand requirements to form coherent department level plans. Working closely with our lead supply planning specialists and manufacturing engineers and operations managers and leaders you will create the manufacturing supply plan to support complex business requirements and deliver world class products and service.
You will be embedded within production departments and create and maintain a valid machine shop production schedule that supports the assembly schedule and supply of spare components to Xtrac’s global customer base. Support business growth by managing schedule overloads within a rolling 0–2-week horizon. Adopt a proactive approach to mitigate issues in conjunction with production and demand planning. Use knowledge of our operations capabilities and capacities to optimise manufacturing supply plans at a detailed level and ensure maximum productivity. Implement schedule change arising from customer requirements or technical changes to ensure optimised delivery. Maintain a high standard of data integrity.
You will have a thorough understanding of planning principles, ideally supported with a relevant professional qualification. You will possess a good understanding of ERP principles and be a proficient ERP user (Epicor preferred but not essential). Knowledge and understanding of common manufacturing techniques and processes and how they fit with creating a robust planning function. Understanding of assembly and manufacturing routings. Competent user of Microsoft Office suite (Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Teams). You will have a positive attitude to problem solving and enjoy the analysis of complex scheduling requirements. You will have good organisational and interpersonal skills and be able to take the initiative to ensure goals are met. You demonstrate a methodical approach to ensure tasks are completed with a high degree of accuracy consistently.
You will be able to build appropriate professional, collaborative, friendly and accessible relationships with your team, peers and line managers. You will be comfortable with both verbal and written communications. You will represent the planning function, interfacing with commercial, finance, project management, engineering and operations colleagues.
You will work to fulfil the requirements of the planning team taking direction from planning specialists as appropriate. You will be able to use your initiative to identify and resolve problems – utilising the skills and experience of the team to build your own knowledge. You will be expected to provide solutions to achieve delivery targets whilst maintaining valid production schedules.
