As a result of new contracts, the engineering team is rapidly growing and therefore we are looking for a motivated Embedded Firmware Engineer with a background in embedded Firmware, system architecture, designing to a set of requirements and with a keen interest in weapon systems.

The role will be based at Raytheon’s Harlow facility. The successful candidate will have access to professional development opportunities and be part of the growing Defence Business in Raytheon UK, delivering engineering expertise across a wide range of projects to both military and civil customers worldwide.

Main Duties:

1. Create and manage architectures for embedded firmware
2. Understand, decompose and verify embedded firmware requirements
3. Define and perform unit level and sub system level testing for embedded firmware
4. Work alongside our embedded system, software and electronic design engineers
5. Generate supporting design documentation and perform regular technical reviews
6. Experience creating embedded firmware architectures
7. Experience testing and verifying requirements
8. Experience working with FPGAs and SoC technologies
9. Ability to program in VHDL
10. Able to present technical information clearly and concisely to others
11. Demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills
12. An openness to learn and try new techniques
13. Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment - working independently or with others to overcome obstacles
14. Capable of analysing and reporting on technical data
15. Eligible or holder of current SC security clearance
16. Experience using the Vivado and Vitis design tools, or equivalent
17. Experience working with the Xilinx chip family
18. Experience delivering embedded firmware as part of a product
19. Experience creating embedded system architectures
20. Familiarity with the application of a systems engineering approach across the design and development lifecycle
21. Knowledge of defence engineering / airborne standards
22. Working with Model Based System Engineering tools such as Simulink
23. Weapon systems domain knowledge and/or experience in a similar field
