Job summary
A local government organization is seeking a Senior Finance Business Partner for Adult Social Care in London. This role requires a Fully CCAB Qualified professional with a strong background in Local Government and experience in Adult Social Care preferred. You will lead financial responsibilities, manage a team, and drive accountability within the directorate. The position pays £550 - £650 daily and is set for a duration of 6 months, with strong communication skills being essential for success.
Qualifications
- Mandatory Local Government background.
- Adult Social Care experience preferred; Children's Services experience is transferable.
- Deep understanding of Commissioning, Brokerage, and Social Care Payments.
Responsibilities
- Lead financial responsibility for Adult Social Care portfolio.
- Move budget monitoring to a monthly cycle.
- Drive financial accountability across the directorate.
- Lead complex demand and cost modelling.
- Challenge Service Managers on mitigation plans.
- Manage Better Care Fund and present cost-saving plans.
- Line manage two Finance Analysts.

Taking lead financial responsibility for a high-pressure Adult Social Care portfolio, you will move budget monitoring to a monthly cycle and drive financial accountability across the directorate.
Financial Modelling: Lead complex demand and cost modelling to project future pressures.
Business Partnering: Challenge and influence Service Managers and Commissioning leads on mitigation plans and unachieved savings.
Strategic Oversight: Manage the Better Care Fund (pooled budgets) and present alternative cost-saving plans at DMT level.
Leadership: Line manage two Finance Analysts.
Qualifications: Fully CCAB Qualified
Experience: Mandatory Local Government background. Adult Social Care experience is preferred, though Children's Services experience is transferable.
Technical Skills: Advanced Excel/data modelling and a deep understanding of the linkages between Commissioning, Brokerage, and Social Care Payments.
Soft Skills: You must be an assertive, confident communicator capable of challenging non-finance service leads.
