MERJE is seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to lead the second line and Compliance team in an FCA-regulated environment within the consumer finance (FS) sector. This crucial role involves setting compliance strategy, embedding strong conduct standards, ensuring robust oversight, effective Appointed Representative Management, and acting as a primary contact for regulators. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of regulatory compliance, financial crime prevention, and risk management.

As Head of Compliance, you will report to the General Counsel and play a vital role in shaping the company's compliance framework. • Develop, implement and manage a robust compliance programme and strategic initiatives aligned with FCA and other regulatory standards.
• Lead adherence to Consumer Duty regulations and partner with operational leadership.
• Design and deliver an annual Compliance Monitoring Plan.
• Support AR monitoring and oversight.
• Oversee and maintain strong frameworks in the following areas; Gifts & Hospitality, Conflicts of Interest, Whistleblowing, SM&CR, and Financial Promotions
• Shape the internal compliance audits programme.
• Conduct regulatory horizon scanning and advise on emerging risks and opportunities.
• Maintain proactive dialogue with regulatory bodies and external auditors.
• Prepare MI and reporting for senior stakeholders and governance committees to ensure effective oversight and improved outcomes.

• 10+ years' experience in compliance or regulatory leadership roles.
• In-depth understanding of the UK regulatory framework, including FCA Handbook.
• Proven ability to design and lead compliance monitoring programmes and thematic reviews.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Comfortable navigating regulatory change in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
• Excellent communication and analytical abilities.
