Job description
Overview

Clinical Associate in Psychology • AMH Acute & Community • Full time (37.5 hours) • Band 6. We are delighted to offer a qualified Clinical Associate Psychologist post at Band 6 based in the Ashfield Local Mental Health Team (LMHT). The LMHTs have a range of mental health professionals working within them and support people who experience a variety of mental health difficulties, including complex trauma, psychosis, depression, anxiety, dissociation, self-harm and life-threatening behaviours. The successful applicant will work alongside two experienced Clinical Psychologists in the team and will support them with the provision of psychological interventions with patients who are under the LMHT. The post holder will be a key member of the multidisciplinary LMHT, providing direct individual and group clinical work.

Key requirements and DBS information

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Role purpose and duties

Clinical Associate Psychologists will be working alongside qualified Clinical Psychologists as a part of the psychological services contribution to the Ashfield multidisciplinary community teams. This post will enhance the current workforce provision serving the mental health needs of the local community. In this role the CAP will provide a flexible community offer as they are competent in the planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based psychological interventions.

Scope of work and practice

The post holder will work semi-autonomously on a day-to-day basis within their scope of practice under supervision of and subject to review at regular intervals by a registered practitioner psychologist in accordance with British Psychological Society (BPS) guidelines. The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary service team providing psychology services for adults. The post holder will be based at the Ashfield LMHT. The Trust reserves the right with consultation to relocate post holders to any based within the Trust in line with service requirements.

Activities and responsibilities

To post holder will undertake a range of clinical activities across a range of settings including in person, by telephone or digital platforms. Activity will include psychological assessments, treatments and other types of clinical intervention with individual service users, carers, families, groups etc; along with other activities such as staff training; research and development activity. Liaison with a broad range of other discipline and agencies including health, social care and voluntary services will be a key aspect of this post.

Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
