A supportive GP practice in Huddersfield is looking for a Medical Secretary to provide effective secretarial support. The role requires 21 hours of work per week across three days. The candidate should have strong organizational skills, experience in a medical environment, and good communication abilities. Primary qualifications include GCSEs in English and Maths and relevant experience. The position includes duties such as typing and maintaining medical records, with an emphasis on confidentiality and professionalism. NHS pension is available.
Supportive and enthusiastic GP surgery, looking to recruit a medical secretary due to the retirement of one of our team. This is a busy and varied role, working with GPs and clinical colleagues to provide efficient secretarial support. The successful candidate will have a friendly, approachable manner and be able to communicate effectively with users of the surgery. The role requires 21 hours per week, over three days. Pay is dependant on experience.
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the secretarial team may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties including those not on the list which are delegated from time to time, may be varied under the direction of the Practice Manager, dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels:
To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs and Health Professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, etc. in an accurate and efficient manner.
To make appointments, bookings and admissions as required.
To establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
To retrieve medical records and assist the completion of medical/insurance records.
File patient records and correspondence in patient medical records.
To maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner.
To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required.
To provide appropriate clerical and administrative duties in line with the e-referral system or any other designated referral management system.
Friendly GP practice in village location, serving 6300 patients. 3 GP Partners, 2 salaried GPS, 2 ANPS and complete nursing team, supported by admin and reception staff. Purpose built premises, ample free parking. Village centre within walking distance. NHS pension available.

In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential
Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data

Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines
