We are seeking an inspirational, dedicated and experienced Head of Maths to provide strategic and operational leadership within our academy. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a department that delivers a high-quality, inclusive and ambitious curriculum, supporting pupils across all key stages and designed to meet the needs of all learners. The Maths curriculum at our academy is rooted in developing secure conceptual understanding, problem-solving confidence and a genuine enjoyment of the subject. It offers a broad and carefully sequenced programme that equips pupils with the mathematical knowledge, skills and reasoning required for success both in school and beyond.
As Head of Department, you will be responsible for leading curriculum development, staff management and departmental improvement, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning and outcomes for pupils. You will provide clear direction and professional guidance for the team, oversee effective use of resources and data analysis to drive informed decision-making. A teaching commitment is included within the role, enabling you to model excellent classroom practice, support the development of colleagues and remain closely involved in pupils’ learning experiences.
You will be a qualified teacher (QTS) with a degree in Maths or a closely related field and you will bring strong leadership experience within secondary education. You will have a proven track record of delivering outstanding Maths teaching across Key Stages 3–5, securing excellent outcomes at GCSE and A level, driving curriculum development, supporting diverse learners and improving attainment through innovative pedagogy and strategic initiatives.
Passionate about mathematics and its power to transform pupils’ futures, you will inspire both students and staff, champion high-quality teaching and learning and foster an inclusive, safe and high-performing departmental culture. Strong organisational, communication and IT skills are essential, along with a commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining the highest standards.
