Staff Nurse - Outpatients

London: London Bridge Satellite sites (31 & 120 Old Broad Street Canary Wharf)

Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

7.5 hour shifts between 08:00 and 20:00 plus occasional Saturdays

We’re looking for a Staff Nurse to join our Outpatient team at the London Bridge satellite sites for Outpatients currently rated Outstanding by the CQC.

This position is based at one of our satellite sites but flexibility is required for you to work across any of our satellite centres if needed (Old Broad Street, Shard, London Bridge, Canary Wharf).

The London Bridge Hospital campus in South East London encompasses an outpatients and diagnostic centre in The Shard; the large world‑class hospital based at the Tooley Street site; Private Care at Guys which is on the top four floors of Guys Hospital Cancer Centre; and outpatient and diagnostic centres across the City and Canary Wharf.

As a Staff Nurse at London Bridge Hospital satellite sites you will deliver world‑class customer service to our patients, visitors and consultants. You will need to help coordinate the department, assist in clinics and ensure the highest quality of clinical practice at all times.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for your OPD area staff and patients during the shift.
  • Deputise for the Sister/Clinical Nurse Manager in their absence.
  • Allocate staff with the appropriate skill mix.
  • Deputise for Clinical Nurse Manager when holding bleep.
  • Record and investigate Datix events.
  • Assist in the organisation of clinics to ensure smooth, efficient operations.
  • Carry out observations, investigations and treatments as required.
  • Support patients in conjunction with senior colleagues in distressing situations.
  • Ensure all equipment is in good, safe working order and participate in Clinical Audit evaluating stock levels and ordering supplies.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement within the Outpatient department.

  • Proficient in Wound Care Management and Venepuncture.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage time excellently.
  • Highly adaptable and reliable.
  • Ability to work under pressure while ensuring high quality, safe and effective patient care.
  • Ability to manage and respond to patients and visitors with challenging behaviour, escalating when necessary.
  • Demonstrates initiative to proactively problem‑solve with a solution focus.
  • Good oral and written communication skills with clear handwriting and computer literacy.
