Context of Role:

2wish supports individuals affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. We are an All-Wales charity providing immediate casework support and ongoing services including counselling, therapies, support groups, events, and a respite cottage.

The post holder will provide emotional and practical support to families affected by such bereavements.

Main Duties:

1. Services
2. Initiate immediate support for families of children and young people aged 0-25 who have died suddenly and unexpectedly across South and West Wales.
3. Contact families within 24-48 hours of referral by phone.
4. Conduct initial assessments to identify support needs, ensuring safeguarding and risk reduction.
5. Offer emotional support via home visits and weekly calls.
6. Liaise with the Counselling Support and Outreach Coordinator for formal support arrangements.
7. Collaborate with healthcare professionals and agencies to promote referrals and provide holistic support.
8. Participate in local forums and deliver awareness training on bereavement support and use of bereavement resources.
9. Monitor the use of memory boxes and maintain bereavement suites in hospital trusts.
10. Facilitate debriefs after traumatic deaths in professional settings.
11. Maintain stock of memory boxes and coordinate deliveries.
12. Prepare reports as required and signpost to additional support agencies.
13. Cover team members during leave or sickness.

16. Respect cultural and religious beliefs of families.
17. Engage in learning opportunities and team development.
18. Adhere to policies on safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety, and lone working.
19. Attend community events and contribute to social media platforms.
20. Work flexibly, undertaking tasks outside the formal job description as needed.

Performance reviews will assess duties and overall performance regularly.
