Job summary
A healthcare provider in Preston seeks a Consultant to work primarily in inpatient secure wards. Key responsibilities include training medical students and consulting on patient care. Applicants must hold full GMC registration and be Section 12 Approved. - Require Section 12 Approved status at commencement of employment.
Responsibilities
- Work in inpatient secure wards with up to 12 acute and 4 long-stay inpatients.
- Conduct training and teaching for medical students and resident doctors.
Education
The successful applicant will be primarily based in one of the inpatient secure wards, with up to 12 acute and 4 long-stay inpatients on their caseload. Prison service delivery can be negotiated as part of the job planning process with the opportunity to link in with prison colleagues to determine the best working arrangements to meet the prison and practitioner's needs.

- Consultants are involved in training and teaching of medical students and resident doctors based at Guild Lodge.
- Full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist register of the GMC or be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.
- It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status.
- Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience.
- At least 2.5 SPAs as standard for a full time post (we would be flexible in looking at enhancements to support other activities that support the wider ambitions of the Trust).
- This post is eligible for a 5% payment of basic salary payable over 2 years.
