Job summary

Lambeth CAMHS are looking to recruit into a new post, a Learning Disability Nurse to our community CAMHS service to support our Neurodevelopmental Pathway.

Experienced and motivated RLDN RMN or RCN with experience of working with children and young people with Neuro diverse presentations including ASD, LD & ADHD.The Post holder will be a care coordinator and provide therapeutic support for children, young people and their families of the Lambeth CAMHS Neuro-developmental Pathway, which is part of the River team (Tier 3 service)The main team base is located at Mary Sheridan centre Wooden Spoon House SE11 4TH

Main duties of the job
  • To provide care coordination & therapeutic support for CYP & families in Lambeth CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Pathway.
  • Clinical assessment, treatment, risk assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes for neuro-diverse children and young people across the tiers of intervention in CAMHS
  • Deliver groups to support the wellbeing of CYP and families referred to the service.
  • Opportunity to provide, support, training, consultation and advice for junior team members and/or other clinicians on issues of neurodiversity across the service.
  • To work in close contact with other clinicians in the NDP to further develop and enhance the clinical offer for CYP with neurodevelopmental conditions across Lambeth.
  • The post holder will sit in the Lambeth CAMHS Community Team (River Team tier 3).

Lambeth has a child and youth population aged 0-20 of almost 70,000. Over 50% of this number are 0 to 9 years old

Person Specification Qualifications and Professional Registration Essential
  • Professional registration with one of the following statutory bodies: the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Relevant professional training will include: First level nursing qualification/registration RNLD, RMN or RSCN with related CAMHS experience
  • Completed practice assessor or practice supervisor training/or equivalent experience of having facilitated student nurse placements.
Desirable
  • MSc Post qualification level qualification associated with child and adolescent mental health e.g. clinical psychology, family therapy, child psychotherapy or equivalent with a strong portfolio of post- registration clinical professional development.
  • Additional training specific to the clinical practice to work with children with ADHD/ASD/LD including evidenced-based behavioural support interventions.
  • Training in CBT/DBT and experience of providing therapeutic intervention using these models;
Knowledge Essential
  • A good working knowledge of the following: Mental health disorders in children and adolescents.
  • London Child Protection procedures Assessment of risk and management of risk factors and safeguarding.
