Job Overview
The Commercial Manager will be responsible for leading all commercial business development activity, as part of the senior leadership team reporting to the CEO and the Board. You will bring an innovative approach to the identification of new commercial opportunities. You will liaise with stakeholders of projects, review viability of projects and assess the company’s landbank for potential power development opportunities.
The Commercial Manager will oversee a team that develops projects. The team’s role is to maintain and nurture relationships and to provide clients with appropriate solutions to their power requirements.
Your team will be liaising with you, the design team and other areas of the business to confirm the viability of projects. You will support the development and closure of contracts, resolve escalated enquiries from internal and external stakeholders, and manage sales through to completion.
You will be responsible for ensuring the team update and maintain all activities in the HubSpot CRM for maximum transparency and clarity for the business.
You will inherit a small team which the company would like to expand. You will also inherit a large number of ongoing projects at various stages of development.

Key Responsibilities
·Formulate, prepare, and present proposals to prospective business customers.
·Negotiate and secure power purchase agreements (PPAs) in line with business targets.
·Generate a sustainable pipeline of projects.
·Identify and onboard channel partners to increase deal flow.
·Maintain appropriate activity levels to achieve and surpass agreed sales targets.
·Maintain conversion rates to achieve and surpass agreed sales targets.
·Attend weekly team sales meetings and individual calls with team members as required.
·Develop and nurture relationships with clients, business contacts, networks, etc.
·Encourage and support colleagues and debrief each of you team’s client contact meetings, calls and presentations as required.
·Keep up to date with industry trends, competitors, and market conditions to identify potential opportunities and threats.
·Attend external meetings and events as required to represent the company and develop new business relationships.
·Reporting to the CEO.
Key Requirements and skills
·Proven track record delivering high-value B2B projects on time and within budget.
·Comfortable driving the performance of a team.
·Highly competent in the preparation and presentation of proposals to business leads.
·Substantial contract negotiation/delivery experience.
·Experience supporting front-end procurement/closing of commercial agreements.
·Experience seeing these agreements through to fulfilment.
·An understanding of the UK grid network and energy market.
·An understanding of planning regulations, specifically to solar PV, BESS and other renewable technologies.
·Proficiency with Hubspot CRM preferred.
·Knowledge of Solar, VO, BESS, and PPAs preferred.
·Self-motivated and results-driven.Able to achieve agreed targets.
·Team player, approachable, friendly, motivated.
·Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with potential customers.
· Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple business opportunities.
Location
Our Head office is in Exeter, with other offices in Leeds, Cardiff and London. The successful candidate would ideally be located within commuting distance of one of these offices however travel within the UK will be required.
