A forward-thinking engineering and manufacturing company in Didcot is seeking a skilled Flat Knitting Technician to join their expanding team. This business specialises in creating advanced technical textile components used across highly regulated, precision-driven sectors.

You’ll play a key role in developing and producing specialist knitted structures using advanced materials and flat knitting machinery. If you’ve worked with STOLL ADF or similar platforms — and enjoy a mix of hands-on production, programming, and textile R&D — this role offers something a bit different from the norm.

Flat Knitting Technician Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate flat knitting machines (e.g. STOLL ADF)
  
  
• Develop and programme new knit patterns for technical components
  
  
• Run production batches and trials using metal yarn and synthetic fibres
  
  
• Perform cutting, joining, and sewing of knitted products
  
  
• Maintain knitting and sewing machinery and document servicing
  
  
• Work closely with technical and R&D teams to meet evolving design briefs
  
  

Flat Knitting Technician Profile:

• Experience with industrial/computerised flat knitting machinery
  
  
• Strong sewing ability (e.g. overlock stitching)
  
  
• Confident in developing and programming knit patterns
  
  
• HND or equivalent in a technical or manufacturing subject
  
  
• Background in technical textiles or small-batch production desirable
  
  
• Familiarity with STOLL ADF systems a bonus
  
  
• Willingness to undergo UK Security Clearance (if required)
