Principal Clinical Psychologist, Memory Assessment and Treatment Service, Wigan working as part of the MDT.
The post holder will provide supervision and oversight of the work of junior psychologists. They will supervise trainees on placement.
They will offer expert specialist neuropsychological assessment to highly complex cases referred to the MATS on a regular basis, and to other clinical psychologists in other older adult services in Wigan on an ad-hoc basis as required. Other duties will include teaching, training, supervision of staff, service development, and audit and research relevant to the needs of the service. The postholder will provide advice and support to other staff regarding the evidence base and formulations concerning memory assessment and dementia diagnosis. In some cases, they will advise on potential suitable interventions.
The post holder will work closely with the Wigan Psychology lead, providing line management and clinical supervision to older adult psychologists as required.
The post holder will use their specialist expertise in clinical neuropsychology and dementia treatments to develop and evaluate new evidence-based services in memory assessment or psychological treatments for dementia or high-risk individuals. They will advise the Wigan Psychology lead on governance matters related to memory assessment within the Older Adult Psychology resource.
