Position Summary

The Transportation Sales Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic sales plans to generate revenue through 3PL and asset-based trucking services. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, expanding the customer base, and nurturing long-term relationships with clients in need of over-the-road (OTR), dedicated, and freight brokerage solutions. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of the transportation industry, a strong network of shippers, and a proven ability to meet and exceed sales goals.

Essential Functions
  • Develop Transportation Sales Strategy – Partner with senior management to design and implement growth plans for transportation services, aligning with company objectives.
  • Business Development & Account Growth – Identify, pursue, and secure new transportation customers while maintaining and expanding relationships with existing accounts.
  • Customer Relationship Management – Build strong, long-term relationships through regular visits, calls, and strategic engagement to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Sales Execution – Create tailored proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals that deliver value to both customers and the company.
  • Collaboration & Coordination – Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth service delivery, accurate forecasting, and aligned business planning.
  • Market & Technology Insights – Monitor market trends, identify competitive opportunities, and leverage technology to enhance customer service and sales performance.
  • Representation & Networking – Represent Gilmer Warehouse at industry events, conferences, and regional associations to build visibility and generate new opportunities.
  • Continuous Improvement – Seek opportunities to improve sales processes, customer engagement, and operational efficiency to support growth objectives.
Requirements
  • 3–5+ years of proven sales experience in 3PL, freight brokerage, or asset-based trucking
  • Strong understanding of transportation operations, freight pricing, and logistics service models
  • Existing book of business or established customer relationships is highly desirable
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot)
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
  • Experience with TMS platforms and digital freight tools
  • Familiarity with cross-border logistics or specialized freight (hazmat, reefer, etc.)
Work Environment

This position may require a mix of in-office work, remote work, and travel to client sites or industry events. Occasional overnight travel may be necessary depending on customer location and business development opportunities.
