A technology company specializing in AI in Santander, Spain is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a PhD and experience with reinforcement learning, data analysis, and Python programming. The role involves designing and deploying AI models, conducting data analysis, and engaging in applied research to impact global health and development. Our platform powers real-time predictions, adaptive interventions, and data-driven decision support — working with partners like the Gates Foundation, Gavi, Google.org, Toyota Tsusho, and multiple Ministries of Health across Africa and Asia.
We’re looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with deep expertise in reinforcement learning (RL), bandits, forecasting, and applied ML systems to join our global, mission-driven team to our offices in Barcelona. On this occasion we are specifically looking for candidates who have completed a PhD, or will have completed before the end of this year, 2025.
As a Senior Machine Learning / Reinforcement Learning Engineer at Causal Foundry , you will work on both foundational and cutting-edge AI challenges that drive impact across several fields like healthcare, supply chain, social systems, agriculture, and video games.
You will design, build, and deploy machine learning and reinforcement learning models for real-world decision-making—using techniques such as contextual and restless bandits , dynamic resource allocation , and causal inference . You’ll conduct detailed data analysis to improve data quality, evaluate model performance, and continuously enhance our adaptive AI infrastructure.
Collaboration with data engineers, product specialists, and domain experts will be key to ensuring that models meet operational and ethical standards and are successfully deployed to production environments at scale.
You’ll also engage in applied research , contributing to the evolution of new algorithms, testing innovative RL frameworks, and shaping the next generation of AI-native systems for global health and development .
