Welcome to Herschel Supply, where we make quality products for a lifetime of better journeys. Designed with timeless form and intuitive function in Vancouver, Canada, every piece is backed by our signature warranty for wherever you’re going next.

Since 2009, we’ve never stopped taking risks. We’re constantly innovating, growing our community and heading on new journeys. We’ve gotten lost in new cities, made lifelong friends all over the world, road tripped with no GPS, and explored a ton of creative pursuits along the way.

Putting yourself out there isn’t easy. It means stepping outside of your comfort zone and trying something new. It might be scary at first, but it also leads to the best parts of life. Inspiring others to take that leap is what we live for. Wherever you’re headed, we’re here to help you pack your future with possibilities.

So, come along for the ride, get inspired and Put Yourself Out There.

About the Role

As the Merchandising Operations Manager, you are the architect of the seasonal engine and the key executor of the global product strategy. Reporting directly to the Founder, you translate high-level creative vision and brand direction into structured operating plans, seasonal frameworks, and commercially sound assortments. You ensure big ideas are shaped through a commercial lens - delivering profitable line plans, on-time go-to-market execution, and consistent sales outcomes across all global channels.

In this leadership role, you own the full seasonal lifecycle - from initial line architecture to final pricing governance. You approve the final “Source of Truth” line list and set the global seasonal milestones that Design, Development, Marketing, and other partners follow. You provide category-level oversight, make style-level decisions to maintain assortment balance, and proactively remove cross-functional bottlenecks to protect the commercial integrity of the brand.

We are a community of creators who believe the best work happens when we’re together; that’s why we collaborate in-person Monday through Thursday, with Friday being flexible to work from home.

A Day in the Life
Team Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of merchandising operations and category specialists, establishing clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Build and continuously refine merchandising operating rhythms, SOPs, and best practices across line planning, pricing, GTM, and system setup.
  • Translate company and founder-level strategy into clear team priorities, resource plans, and execution roadmaps.
Line Architecture
  • Own end-to-end seasonal execution across categories, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timely delivery across all merchandising outputs.
  • Oversee the development of seasonal line plans—including SKU counts, carryover strategy, cancellations, and newness - ensuring alignment with the founder’s vision and long-term assortment strategy.
  • Partner with Finance and Planning to ensure line plans meet revenue, cost, and margin targets.
  • Develop and maintain the line list as the foundational tool for seasonal assortment planning and cross-functional alignment.
  • Collaborate with Design to finalize silhouettes, feature sets, and product direction.
Product Creation & System Setup
  • Create and maintain new styles in PLM, including style codes, naming, retail pricing, and product hierarchy.
  • Partner with Product Development and Design throughout proto rounds to align on cost targets, margin expectations, and commercial viability.
Pricing
  • Manage pricing approval processes and ensure accurate, timely system uploads.
  • Lead the preparation and distribution of seasonal price lists across all currencies.
  • Develop markdown and end-of-life proposals and oversee system execution.
GTM Merchandising
  • Conduct post-mortem analysis to identify performance gaps, risks, and future assortment opportunities.
  • Align with Design, Planning, Marketing, and Sales to ensure all GTM milestones and calendars are met.
  • Partner with Marketing to build seasonal stories and identify hero products.
  • Build and maintain Salesman Sample selections aligned with seasonal priorities.
  • Support Sales during sell-in with product insights and pricing.
  • Collaborate with Visual Merchandising to shape retail assortments by category.
  • Finalize compatible SKU selections for Retail and Ecommerce and share with Planning to support buy planning.
  • Review buy files with Planning, addressing MOQs, surcharges, cancellations, and commercial risks.
Pricing Execution & Inventory Management
  • Partner with Planning to monitor inventory health and recommend rebuys, adjustments, or risk-mitigation actions.
  • Support ongoing performance reviews through sell-through, inventory turn, and regional trend analysis.
  • Develop promotional pricing strategies for key commercial events (BFCM, Boxing Week, Luggage Sale) and execute updates in system.
Deliverables & KPIs
  • On-time, accurate delivery of global seasonal line plans, assortments, and GTM milestones across all categories.
  • Line plans and pricing execution that achieve revenue, gross margin, and inventory productivity targets.
  • High data accuracy across PLM and ERP, supported by clear operating rhythms and SOPs.
  • A high-performing merchandising operations team and strong cross-functional partnerships.
  • Timely inventory actions, promotional pricing, and markdown management that mitigate risk and support sell-through.
About You
  • 7–10 years of progressive merchandising experience, including 2+ years in Merchandising or Merchandising Operations leadership with direct reports.
  • Experience leading seasonal product calendars.
  • Post-secondary education in Business or Fashion Merchandising is an asset.
  • Mastery of retail math (margins, GMROI, sell-through analysis) to validate founder-level strategies.
  • Proficiency in ERP and PLM systems, plus Power BI for executive-level reporting.
  • Expertise in line architecture and assortment balance across core, seasonal, carryover, and newness.
  • Strong strategic translation skills - turning creative direction into profitable SKU lists.
  • Assertive leadership with the ability to hold teams accountable to GTM timelines.
  • Sharp commercial intuition to identify assortment gaps, category saturation, or pricing opportunities.
  • Experience with PLM and ERP systems
  • Some proficiency in Power BI reporting.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and project management tools (e.g., monday.com).
NICE TO HAVE
  • Experience in a brand environment where roles are fluid and cross-functional partnerships are essential.
  • Background spanning both Wholesale and DTC channels.
