We are expanding our Microsoft Professional Services team and are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Power BI Consultant to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced business intelligence solutions. This role requires deep expertise in Power BI, data modeling, DAX, and data visualization, along with a strong understanding of business processes and data governance. The ideal candidate will play a key role in transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.

Job Responsibilities
Candidates will have a focus on Microsoft data and analytics services, centered on Power BI, and must be able to perform a wide range of technical consulting services for our clients, including data assessment, design and planning, technical feasibility assessments, installation, and configuration in complex, multi-vendor environments.
The preferred candidate has experience and a proven history in implementing and supporting a variety of business intelligence and analytics solutions. Duties may include the following:
• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI.
• Lead data modeling efforts, including star/snowflake schema design and optimization.
• Write advanced DAX queries and measures to support complex business logic.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into BI solutions.
• Integrate Power BI with various data sources (SQL Server, Azure, Excel, APIs, etc.).
• Ensure data accuracy, performance optimization, and visual best practices.
• Implement and maintain row-level security (RLS) and data governance standards.
• Mentor junior BI developers and provide technical leadership on BI projects.
• Stay current with Power BI updates and emerging BI technologies.
• Support Power BI service administration, including workspace management and deployment pipelines.
Job Qualifications/Requirements
Candidates will have 5+ years of progressive technical experience in the implementation and support of business intelligence and analytics solutions. Previous consulting experience will be considered an asset, while having excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills, and extensive technical skills that include most or all of the following:
• 5+ years of experience in Power BI development and business intelligence
• Microsoft Certified: Power BI Expert and/or Data Analyst Associate
• Proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and Power BI Desktop.
• Strong experience with SQL and relational databases
• Solid understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing, and data modeling
• Experience with Power BI service, including workspace and dataset management
• Familiarity with Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure Synapse, Data Factory) is a plus
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Expert-level Microsoft-certified full-stack BI Analyst/Developer: Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, Power Apps, SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps
• Deep experience in Power BI back end (infrastructure and data engineering) and front end (data visualization, report development, report server management, dataflow pipeline creation and management) in Microsoft Azure
• Collaborate with business users to develop innovative Power BI-based solutions, adhering to best practices
• Effective communication skills
Additional Qualifications:
The following qualifications are desirable and would be viewed as an asset. However, training will be provided as required:
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Knowledge of Python or R for data analysis
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and version control (e.g., Git)
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric
