We invest funds for the pension plans of the federal public service, the Canadian Forces, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Reserve Force. Headquartered in Ottawa, PSP Investments has its principal business office in Montréal and offices in New York, London and Hong Kong.

Capturing and leading complex global investments requires us to work as one to seize valuable opportunities, in close collaboration with some of the world’s top companies. At PSP, you’ll join a team of motivated and engaged professionals, dedicated to propelling our organization further than ever before.

EXPERIENCE THE EDGE

At PSP, we encourage our employees to grow, forge powerful relationships, contribute and fuel inspired investment launchpads. We are committed to a culture that fosters collaboration and allows us to think beyond, in an interconnected way. We advocate for our employees to speak-up, learn, experiment, share, and be part of an inclusive work environment where diversity is embraced.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Sitting within the Chief Investment Office (CIO) group of one of the largest pension funds in Canada, the Dynamic Asset Allocation and Currency Management (DAACM) team leads the dynamic asset allocation and currency management of PSP portfolio (the Total Fund). The team is in charge of managing rebalancing activities, for asset classes and currencies, to ensure that the Total Fund exposure is aligned with desired targets.

ABOUT YOUR ROLE

As a Global Strategist Advisor in the DAACM team, you will play an important role in shaping our investment strategies across global financial markets. You will contribute to our decision-making processes, ensuring that our asset allocation decisions are aligned with financial and economic forecasts, over a medium-term horizon. You will collaborate closely with analysts, asset managers, and other key stakeholders to provide insightful financial market analysis and to proactively identify investment opportunities.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Closely monitor global financial markets conditions and proactively anticipate market trends, to support investment decisions across the CIO group and investment teams

  • Conduct advanced quantitative and econometric analysis to provide insights on financial market trends and investment opportunities

  • Help to develop and improve on in-house analytical tools and econometric models key to the analysis of economic conditions and financial markets

  • Contribute to asset allocation recommendations over the medium-term horizon, incorporating market conditions and in-house return forecasts for various asset classes and currencies

  • Collaborate with investment teams to deliver investment recommendations for both public and private asset classes

  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for the team, the CIO group, and senior management

  • Perform all other duties as required by the position

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
  • Advanced degree in Finance, Financial engineering, Economics, or a related field (Master’s or Ph.D.); CFA designation is an asset

  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in investment strategy or asset allocation

  • In-depth knowledge of global financial markets, investment instruments, and financial modelling

  • Advanced quantitative and data analysis, with proficiency in econometric modeling, estimation, and forecasting

  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively within and across different teams

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing investment conditions and organizational needs

  • Proficiency with econometric packages (Eviews, Python, R, etc.), Microsoft Office suite, and financial market databases (Bloomberg, Haver, Datastream, etc.)

  • Bilingualism: English and French *(Frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)

We offer a tailored employee experience and competitive total rewards and benefits package* designed to attract and retain global diverse talent, reward performance, and reinforce business strategies and priorities. Beyond salary and incentive pay eligibility, you have access to:

  • Investment in career development

  • Comprehensive group insurance plans

  • Competitive pension plans

  • Unlimited access to virtual healthcare services and wellness programs

  • Gender-inclusive paid family leave policy: up to 26 weeks for primary caregivers, 5 weeks for secondary caregivers

  • A personalized family-building support, from pre-pregnancy to menopause, with available financial assistance

  • Vacation days available on day one with additional days on milestone service anniversaries, and summer Friday afternoons off

  • A hybrid work model with a mix of in-office and remote days

*Benefits package may vary based on your employee type.

At PSP, we aim to provide an inclusive workplace where we leverage diversity and where everyone feels valued, safe, respected and empowered to grow.
