Position Summary: This course explores the role of gender in Indigenous communities from theoretical perspectives and through lived experiences of Indigenous peoples. Students will learn about Indigenous theories of gender, including Indigenous feminism, queer/two-spirit theory and work on Indigenous masculinities. The work of Indigenous peoples to address patriarchy through writing, political action and the revitalization of traditions and artistic creativity will be examined as evidence of the struggle to return to the respectful egalitarian traditions where women were valued for their contributions.

Qualifications – Required: Master’s Degree or equivalent lived experience

Qualifications – Other: Preference will be given to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) people who are accountable to, and have strong ties with, Indigenous communities, and who can clearly articulate their pedagogy for mobilizing FNMI knowledge.

Salary: $9206.40

This appointment is in accordance with the Contract Teaching Faculty and Part-time Librarians Collective Agreement , for which the Wilfrid Laurier Faculty Association (WLUFA) is the exclusive bargaining agent. All applicants are assessed using both the “Appendix H: Assessment of CTF Candidates under 13.6.1” in the collective agreement and the program specific rubric , where applicable.
