About the Role:
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and dependable HR Assistant to join our team. This is a key role supporting both payroll processing and basic HR functions. You’ll ensure our salaried and hourly employees are paid accurately and on time across Alberta, BC, and Ontario, while assisting with day-to-day HR administration.
Key Responsibilities:
Process payroll for employees across multiple provinces (AB, BC, ON)
Maintain payroll records and handle payroll-related inquiries
Assist with basic accounting tasks and data entry
Support HR functions such as onboarding, employee file management, and benefits administration
Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment standards and tax regulations
Collaborate with finance and HR teams to ensure accurate reporting and recordkeeping
Qualifications:
2+ years of payroll experience (multi-province preferred)
Payroll designation (PCP or equivalent) or equivalent practical experience
Experience with payroll platforms (Rippling is an asset, but not required)
Learning Management System experience an asset
Working knowledge of Alberta and BC payroll legislation
Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable learning new systems
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Assets:
Experience processing payroll in multiple jurisdictions
Familiarity with payroll systems like Rippling, ADP, Ceridian, or similar
Comfortable working in cloud based HRIS/payroll platforms like Rippling, BambooHR, or Workday
Learning Management System experience
Exposure to basic accounting functions and reconciliations
Experience with payroll for head count of 100-500 employees
