Job summary
A governmental organization in Oshawa is seeking a skilled technician to perform electrical and mechanical repairs. Responsibilities include troubleshooting equipment, reading blueprints, and instructing apprentices. A secondary school graduation certificate and experience in electrical repair are required. This is an on-site position with no remote work options.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 months experience in electrical and mechanical repair.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting and repair.
Responsibilities
- Read blueprints to determine work requirements.
- Test and observe electrical and mechanical conditions of equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical motors and equipment.

Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
- Read blueprints to determine work requirements
- Test and observe electrical and mechanical conditions of equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators and other electro-mechanical equipment
- Use machining tools to fabricate or recondition parts
- Replace or recondition shafts, bearings, commutators and other components
- Weld or braze components
- Instruct apprentices
- Wind, assemble and install various types of coils
- Perform static or dynamic balancing of armatures or rotors
- Perform some machining to recondition or modify shafts, commutators or other parts
- Perform on-site servicing and repair
- Test and repair or replace faulty wiring or components in electrical switchgear
- Test repaired motors, transformers, switchgear or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance
