As a Family and Child Social Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well‑being of children, supporting families through challenging circumstances, and strengthening community resources. • Investigate child protection reports and provide emergency crisis response, including after‑hours on‑call services.
• Conduct risk assessments, interviews, and gather information to determine appropriate interventions.
• Develop and monitor family plans, provide counselling, and coordinate services to keep children safely with their families or return them to parental care.
• Recruit, support, and monitor foster families; investigate concerns and provide advocacy.
• Build community capacity through education, partnerships, and wellness initiative.
• Collaborate with RCMP, schools, medical professionals, and other agencies.
• Educate families and the community on child protection services.
• Maintain accurate documentation and case records.
• Prepare legal documents, apply for court orders, and present cases in court while ensuring compliance with legislation.
• Support adults and individuals with disabilities through referrals, financial assessments, and residential planning.

A Diploma in Social Work AND a minimum of two (2) years of direct practice in the field of Child and Family Services OR A Bachelor¿s Degree in Social Work.

• The incumbent must be licensed under the NWT Social Worker Profession Act.
• The incumbent must maintain a valid class 5 Driver’s License.
• The incumbent must successfully be appointed as a Child Protection Worker.
