Position: Full-Time Security Guard
Site: Victoria County Memorial Hospital
Hours: Monday to Friday (1500-2300hrs)
Payrate: $20.50

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.


• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.


• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.


• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats, and assist hospital staff during crises and evacuations.


• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff, provide directions, and ensure guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.


• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.


• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately and complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.


• Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.


• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed and address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.

• Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia


• Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)


• English (oral and written) fluency is a must


• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.


• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)


• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding to meet position requirements.
