Job description

At Peak Power, we’re making it profitable to pursue net zero

Peak Power is a North American cleantech company providing end-to-end battery energy storage solutions for large commercial, industrial, and manufacturing facilities. Powered by industry-leading peak forecasting and market intelligence, we help large energy users significantly reduce electricity costs, unlock new revenue streams, and achieve sustainability goals.

With innovative financing models that eliminate upfront costs and proprietary AI-enabled software achieving greater than 90% peak prediction accuracy, we’ve unlocked over $20 million from batteries under management, generating -$160,000 in annual value per megawatt.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the VP, Project Development the Senior Project Manager will be pivotal in driving the delivery and execution of BTM BESS projects. You will lead the project definition and delivery system from Notice-to-Proceed (NTP) to Commercial Operation (COD) for energy storage project execution, defining the project calendar and work breakdown structure, and defining deliverable acceptance and reporting procedures. You will leverage your understanding of electricity markets, energy storage, power systems, and project management construction practices to establish the processes to support the delivery of operational excellence to build Peak's electric asset portfolio.

This work matters. Even a small change to optimize power utilization can significantly impact our customers, electrical grid, and environment. We're building something that will have a lasting, positive impact.

Our new Senior Project Manager will:

Deliver. You bring strong organizational, time management, prioritization, and project management skills to ensure energy storage projects are executed safely, on time, and on budget from project approval (NTP - Notice to Proceed) through to Commercial Operation (COD).

  • Lead a cross-functional team in order to bring a portfolio of projects with a focus on bringing project from NTP to COD and EPC and construction management and oversight.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in managing a portfolio of construction projects, with direct oversight of all EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management) activities.
  • Own and lead the construction phase of energy storage projects, managing execution from NTP through commissioning, including interface with engineering, procurement, OEMs, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and key milestones, ensuring all deliverables meet technical and commercial requirements.
  • Define and lead RFPs, scope of work, and contract negotiations for EPC and third-party contractors.
  • Support VP of Development and Project Development Managers with subject matter expertise and input for conducting site and project constructability due diligence for both greenfield development and M&A initiatives, including construction feasibility, risk assessment(s), and CAPEX inputs.
  • Establish project acceptance criteria and oversee milestone delivery to ensure all construction-related deliverables meet SOW (Scope of Work) and client requirements.
  • Ensure all contractual obligations are met for the Finance Partner and obtain signoff/acceptance.
  • Ensure that all close-out documents, including as-built drawings, are obtained and stored in the project file for future reference.

Report. You will monitor, track, and report construction progress with precision. Your process-oriented approach improves visibility and drives performance.

  • Lead weekly and monthly project status updates across internal teams, EPCs, clients, and financing partners using detailed construction schedules and dashboards
  • Maintain comprehensive and organized project documentation, ensuring compliance with financing and stakeholder requirements
  • Review EPC schedules, budgets, and subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to safety standards (EHS), permits, and equipment integration timelines
  • Project update reports for all stakeholders (internal and external) are addressed and escalated as required, including budget updates, project change orders, and risk management issues.

Collaborate. You have strong interpersonal and communication skills to align cross-functional teams and external stakeholders that require input, buy-in, and execution across multiple departments, as well as customer and stakeholder communications to ensure project execution runs smoothly.

  • Coordinate across engineering, construction, commissioning, procurement, legal, finance, and accounting staff to ensure aligned execution of project objectives
  • Manage relationships with EPCs, Battery OEMs, civil/structural contractors, and suppliers to ensure quality, delivery, and accountability
  • Coordinate activities of an internal team of project engineering, construction management, commissioning, procurement, asset management, legal, finance, and accounting staff, as well as deliverables of EPC Contractor, project stakeholders, and regulatory and permitting authorities
  • Problem-solve complex construction or site-related challenges in real time, working closely with technical experts, regulatory authorities, and internal and external stakeholders
  • Understand the key financing elements of a project and work with the finance and commercial teams to ensure that all projects and deals continue to meet or exceed financial hurdles
