Job Overview
The Construction Project Manager supports the Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) Project Manager or Program Manager and is responsible for overseeing construction projects from pre‑construction through completion and warranty periods. This role manages safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, documentation, and field operations to ensure successful execution of EPC, construction management, and program management projects.
Key Responsibilities Construction & EPC Project Management
- Manage day‑to‑day construction activities for single or multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ensure compliance with company safety programs, training, and policies, promoting a strong Safety & Health culture.
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, estimating, cost development, and establishment of critical objectives.
- Develop and manage client relationships and support proposal‑and project‑related engagements.
- Participate in internal and external risk reviews, coordinating with Legal as required.
- Negotiate and manage prime contracts, CM contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.
- Implement assigned portions of the Project Execution Plan, including construction execution, QA, Safety & Health, staffing, subcontracting, and procurement plans.
- Develop construction staffing plans and train project teams to ensure efficient and cost‑effective utilization of resources.
- Oversee site layout planning, mobilization, and demobilization activities.
- Verify all required project permits are obtained and maintained.
Contract Administration & Reporting
- Direct downstream RFP and bid processes, including scope development, prequalification, evaluation, and award recommendations.
- Review and present project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and status reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to align engineering deliverables with project schedules.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change management, claims mitigation, and contract closeout activities.
- Oversee prime contract, subcontractor, and client contractor invoicing processes.
- Implement and audit project documentation and compliance processes.
Field Operations, Labor & Closeout
- Perform and support safety, quality, progress, and financial audits.
- Oversee non‑conformance reporting and corrective action processes.
- Manage materials receiving, inventory control, storage, and transportation.
- Verify subcontractor and contractor compliance with contract documents, safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Direct project turnover documentation, warranties, record retention, and closeout processes.
- Support communication with governmental, industry, and public entities.
- Mentor and train interns, construction coordinators, assistant construction managers, and craft supervision.
- Manage labor planning, composite crew rates, staffing levels, labor burdens, and craft classifications.
- Uphold craft competency, training standards, and progression tracking.
- Manage construction equipment inventory to support project execution.
- Perform other duties as assigned in compliance with company policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent applicable experience.
- 7+ years of construction project management experience.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to manage large workloads and multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to meet company driving requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management software.
- Experience across aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transportation, transmission & distribution, or water infrastructure projects.
