Job Description:

TD Wealth offers a full range of competitive wealth and asset management solutions to retail and institutional clients. We help individual and institutional clients protect, grow and successfully transition their wealth. There are five unique lines of business:
  • Advice: Our fastest growing division which includes financial planning, full-service brokerage and private client groups.
  • Direct Investing: Canada's largest direct investing brokerage, provides a full set of offerings to retail clients in Canada.
  • TD Asset Management (TDAM): A leading North American investment management company comprised of both retail and institutional clients.
  • US Wealth: Leverages the branches in TD's US retail arm to offer a suite of products and services to American customers.
  • Wealth Shared Services: National back-office support function serving all market-facing businesses across strategic editorial content, business management, business architecture, wealth product, analytics and reporting, and operations.
  • Wealth Governance & Control: National 1B team, advising and supporting the management of the overall risk, control and governance portfolio for TD Wealth.

G&C Overview

TD Wealth's Governance & Control (G&C) team partners with the Wealth businesses to design, implement, maintain and monitor effective internal controls and ensure business activities remain within TD Bank's risk appetite and comply with external regulatory requirements.

The team is responsible for ensuring timely and consistent implementation - across all Wealth businesses - of all risk, control and governance programs, initiatives, policies and strategic business projects. The Wealth Governance & Control team acts as the primary contact for the Wealth businesses, working closely with subject matter experts from each Wealth business line. The team works together with the business leaders to implement Wealth-wide Governance & Control methodologies, policy frameworks, standards and practices and are key members of enterprise projects / programs requiring Wealth representation.

Job Description

The Manager role reports to the Senior Manager, Registered Plans providing leadership in managing a team who provides guidance, oversight and remediation support for Registered Products for TD Wealth.

The successful candidate will focus on Registered Plans and will work closely with partners across the organization including executives in the various Wealth lines of business, Compliance, Legal, Risk Management, Products, Credit, Tax, Operations, Technology/Delivery, among others. The role's mandate is to help promote a sustained culture of best practices and compliance through the appropriate review and analysis of registered plans.

We are looking for a self-motivated innovative thinkers with a continuous improvement mentality, strong communication, business acumen and digital literacy.

Primary Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a subject matter expert and central point of reference for internal business partners regarding registered plans and provide the necessary guidance and support
  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, capable of collaborating and fostering relationships within the Business and with cross-functional working groups
  • Accountable to remain current in developments in legislative and operational matters related to registered plans and assess any implication/risks
  • Participate TD Wealth registered plans governance related project working groups.

Regulatory Reporting & Operations
  • Conduct strong data analysis and prepare meaningful reporting/materials providing key insights and recommendations that translate into sound business decisions.
  • Conducting industry research and staying current on best practices, products, and emerging risks and technologies.
  • Produce insightful, meaningful, and analytical commentary that can simplify complex matters into a well-crafted story/call-to-action, to allow stakeholders to drive decisions.
  • Accountable to review agreements between the Trustee & Agents related to policies, procedures, and controls for accuracy and adherence to policy and risk management principles and appropriate definitions are applied.
  • Identify potential policy, procedure, & control needs arising from legal and tax issues, whether arising from existing or proposed legislation or other sources and draft policy to address such issues where required
  • Develop reporting to provide status update, issues, KPIs, and action plans for the respective business area and continuously enhance reporting, as needed

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Skills/Experience
  • 7+ years' experience ideally working for a financial institution, in compliance, Trust, or consultant/advisory experience
  • Deep industry and compliance knowledge and expertise in the various Registered Plan products and regulations.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in report development, analysis, consulting, corporate communications/media or strategy development.
  • Excellent Power Platform , Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills is a must, experience using business intelligence tools (i.e Tableau, Python, R, SQL, Alteryx) is an asset.
  • Experience working with data sets, and complex information building reporting dashboard that drive strategic insights.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to communicate clearly at all levels, including ability to prepare executive level decks, memos and reports
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to consume large volumes of information and summarize it in a meaningful way for stakeholders.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage work under tight timelines and changing priorities.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft product suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio etc), in particular PowerPoint is essential.

Education
  • Completion of a University degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • Post graduate degree (Masters Degree) or Professional designation is considered an asset.
