Primary Purpose of the position: The Director, Operations manages operational processes from start to finish in the assigned plant. They work with their plant leadership teams to manage operations in the plant and achieve assigned production and operational goals according to budgeted plant targets and help drive culture and strategy to increase productivity and engagement.

Essential Responsible Areas:

• Responsible for the overall safety performance in the plant by ensuring plant focus on programs, procedures and KPI’s in accordance with Ball safety programs. Provides for a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in EHS behaviours across the plant.
• Provide oversight for the operations management team including production, engineering, maintenance, quality and safety along with a strong connection to planning, procurement, supply chain, finance and human resources.
• Ensures plant performance is closely linked to customer requirements, product specifications and quality controls.
• Confirms the plant complies with all environmental regulations by maintaining effective environmental programs.
• Works collaboratively as a member of the plant leadership team to help maximize efficiency of plant in terms of profit, productivity and cost by providing direction and collaborating with central support functions including finance, Ball Operational Excellence, quality, commercial, engineering, sourcing, human resources, health/safety, communications, legal and technical services.
• Align with Manufacturing Cost Controller/Finance and manages the plant budget, cost per thousand and operating plans.
• Supports the achievement of plant-level KPI’s in areas of environmental, health & safety, quality, delivery, cost, people, maintenance and sustainability. Collaborate with other Plants in benchmarking and optimization in order to exceed Company objectives.
• Responsible for the selection, training, growth and development of shift and staff personnel to attain organizational goals.
• Supports positive employee relations in the plant, including with local/national union leadership, including leading and managing union negotiations in line with the aligned strategy, if applicable. Establish a high performance culture and healthy and productive working relationships with the workforce.
• Establish effective relationships with any key stakeholders (internal and external).
• May be responsible for special projects related to other functional areas.
• Orchestrate activities, assignments and projects to maintain optimal level of customer service for both internal and external customers.

Position Requirements & Competencies:

• Completed Bachelor Degree preferred in Engineering, Business or Supply Chain.
• MBA Preferred.
• Advanced/Fluent English.
• Manufacturing leadership experience (high speed manufacturing/packaging preferred).
• Highly Matrixed/High Growth Organization Experience.

Skills:

• Ability to participate with functional counterparts within the organization at the earliest stages of planning and development to meet plant objectives; directing, allocating the plant’s resources, timing, etc., resources needed to assure meeting the plant’s objectives.
• Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
• Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
• Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball Corporation manuals.
• Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
