As Director of Operations, you will provide leadership direction to the hotel by maximizing financial returns, driving development of people, creating and maintaining memorable guest experiences, executing on brand standards, and building awareness of the hotel and brand in the local community.

Some of your main role responsibilities are:

1. Help the General Manager in the development, implementation, and monitoring of financial and operational plans for the hotel. Provide regular direction and manage hotel operations for all departments.
2. Monitor and report variances against budget and control labour costs and other expenses.
3. Make recommendations for capital improvements to enhance the assets of the hotel and/or company and brand loyalty.
4. Foster positive owner relationships if applicable and assist in providing ongoing information and status reports.
5. Direct everyday activities, plan and assign work ensuring you always have the right staffing numbers.
6. Develop your team and improve their performance through coaching and feedback, and create performance and development goals for colleagues - recognize good performance.
7. Train colleagues to make sure they deliver with compliance and to the standards we expect and have the tools they need to work efficiently.
8. Recommend or initiate any HR related actions where needed.
9. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management.
10. Drive a great working environment for teams to thrive and connect departments to create a sense of one team.
11. Oversee the day-to-day operations and assignments of the hotel staff; assist the General Manager in the development and communication of departmental strategies and goals. Communicate and enforce policies and procedures.
12. Interact with guests and outside contacts including current and potential clients, government officials, travel industry representatives, suppliers, competitors, and local community members.
13. Make sure the hotel delivers the highest level of guest satisfaction through superb guest services and amenities.
14. Establish and implement appropriate service recovery guidelines in order to ensure complete guest satisfaction. Respond to guest complaints or concerns in a prompt and professional manner.
15. Review guest feedback and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
16. Communicate to appropriate departments all pertinent information requirements and special needs for arriving VIPs, large groups, and other key guests.
17. Lead marketing efforts to upsell guests on hotel services, offerings, and amenities.
18. Ensure a safe and secure environment for guests, team members, and hotel assets in compliance with the hotel’s or owner’s policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. Maintain relations with outside contacts.
19. Act as public relations representative to raise awareness of the hotel and brand in the local community.
20. Drive team member involvement in community organizations, activities, and businesses.
21. Develop and carry out action plans to be environmentally conscious by taking steps to reduce the hotel’s carbon footprint.
22. Comply with federal, state, and local laws regarding health, safety, and alcohol services.
23. Perform other duties as assigned. May also serve as manager on duty.

Ideally, you'll have some or all of the following competencies and experience we're looking for:

1. Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in Hotel Administration, Business Administration.
2. Three years general management experience in a high-level operations role or prior general manager experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Type and level of experience required may vary slightly based on size and complexity.
4. Must speak local language(s).
